Lux et Veritas: Yale Certamen!

Updated: Dec 6, 2019
On November 2nd, BLSJCL attended the Yale Certamen Tournament in New Haven, Connecticut. The tournament included JCLers and schools that came from places as far as Florida! There were three divisions that played: novice, intermediate, and advanced, depending on grade.
BLSJCLers were ready to buzz after the 3-hour long journey! At first, there are three preliminary rounds where teams just want to get the maximum of points as they can, then the semifinals, and of course, the finals. Yale Certamen was a great way to kick off a fresh, new year of Certamen.
Now, the results! Our intermediate and advanced team got to finals, and they each clinched a first place. Euge! BLSJCL's intermediate team consisted of Karen Dong, Louisa Hemr, Kyler Hoogendoorn-Ecker, Mathew Mabington, and Grace Sullivan. The advanced team was made up of Luc Azar-Tanguay, Ethan Clark, Dante Minutillo, and Danny Nguyen.
Additionally, congratulations to intermediate MVP, Kyler Hoogendoorn-Ecker, and advanced MVP, Dante Minutillo, for their amazing performance!
After finals, BLSJCL celebrated with a cake before another three-hour ride home (filled with more Certamen practice, McDonald's, and Auntie Anne's).
Congrats to all who attended!
