This past Saturday on February 8th, 11 schools and 27 teams arrived at 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur to compete at the 10th edition of the BLS Certamen Tournament! This years theme was Disney+, so questions at each level were based on Disney's most famous movies. We also held a raffle that awarded two winners with a Disney+ subscription as well as Tasty Burger merch! After listening to Certamen Hall of Famer Dante Minutillo's (BLS '20) opening remarks, teams prepared to play their preliminary rounds.

After 3 long rounds of prelims, the stage for finals was set. The Novice finale pitted our own team who entered as the first seed, against Philips Exeter, and Rising Latin (a team of students from both BLS and Rising Tide). Even though the game was within 10 points at the halfway mark, Philips Exeter was able to pull away in the end.

Intermediate Finals began soon after with a team from BLS led by current Novice players Creighton Banitt (BLS '24) and Joanna Lin (BLS '24). They faced teams from Roxbury Latin which included former BLS Certamen player and NJCL champion Owen Butler, and from Philips Exeter. Despite a valiant effort from our team, Roxbury Latin came out victorious. Finally, the Advanced finalists played the last match of the day. Boston Latin Academy, Philips Exeter, and Roxbury Latin all played an excellent round, but Philips Exeter ended the tournament with a dominant performance. Thank you to all competitors, question writers, and tournament managers for a great competition! Hope to see you next year!!
